Last month was the first anniversary of Shanti Bhavan 2. Our youngest children, kindergarteners and first graders, stood proudly on stage before a full audience of friends, supporters, volunteers, alumni, and people who came from near and far to celebrate with us. Despite their young age and being on a large stage for the first time, the Shanti Bhavan 2 children were fearless and full of joy.

Among them was Lalitesh.
When Lalitesh came to us last year at four, he’d already lost both his parents. His extended family struggled to take care of him. At home he was quiet and withdrawn, but that night on stage, he was radiant. Confident. Brave.

In his first year at Shanti Bhavan 2, Lalitesh’s teachers and aunties gave him care and attention, and made sure he felt secure. He learned something even more important than letters and numbers: he is loved and no longer alone.
We will continue nurturing Lalitesh at Shanti Bhavan 2 through every success and setback so that he never loses sight of his worth. Thanks to you, the children will always have their Shanti Bhavan family to encourage and care for them, and remind them they’re never alone.
By opening Shanti Bhavan 2, you’ve made it possible for us to welcome 30 more children each year from nearby communities. They are full of potential, who just need the structure, support, mentorship, and love that we can provide together. All of us look forward to seeing them through their journeys.
Thank you for believing in them and in us.
Best wishes,
Ajit George
