I have been a part of the Shanti Bhavan community since 2014, when I spent a year in India as the On-Site Administrator. It was the most transformative year of my life, and since then I have been back to Shanti Bhavan twice and lucky enough to spend time with Shanti Bhavan students as they visit the United States. I have been an educator in Massachusetts since returning to the states from India, first as an English teacher and now as middle school librarian after receiving my Master’s in Library Science from Simmons University. My job on the Volunteer Services Team is to help prepare volunteers for their role as a teacher in India, whether that be how to adapt their previous teaching experience to a brand new environment or how to stand in front of a group of students for the first time.
