female student distance learning

As the fall season approaches, many of us should be seeing our children off to school or getting ready for classes ourselves. This year looks different world-wide. The challenges faced around virtual learning and safety are even more pronounced for Shanti Bhavan college students.

In Fall 2020, we have a total of 56 alumni pursuing college degrees from universities in India and abroad. In previous years, Shanti Bhavan has supported our college students by ensuring comfortable living environments in hostels and healthy meals, so they could focus on their studies without distraction. This year many students will instead be required to do their school work from their homes.

One of the major difficulties with distance education is a lack of technical resources. Shanti Bhavan college students will be working with outdated laptops, limited internet availability, and little or no access to IT assistance. Plus, working from their homes means pressure to assist with day-to-day chores, limited personal space, and increased exposure to unsafe conditions. And we don’t know how long this situation will last.

You can help us combat these unique challenges! Your gifts this fall will support our college students with internet hotspots, laptops, access to online resources, and other virtual learning necessities.
